Reverse engineering

When the part doesn't exist any more, make it exist again.

Discontinued OEM parts, aftermarket pieces nobody stocks, a component that has to change because the car did. We scan what you have, model it properly and manufacture a replacement — with the improvements the original should have had.

How it works

What happens, in order.

  1. 01

    Bring what you've got

The old part, a broken one, or the mating surfaces it has to fit. Post it if you're not local.

  2. 02

    Scan and model

Captured, then rebuilt as proper parametric CAD — not a traced mesh.

  3. 03

    Fix what was wrong

Material, geometry, the reason it failed. Agreed with you before manufacture.

  4. 04

    Manufacture and fit

Printed in polymer or metal, or laser cut and coated, then test fitted.

Is this the right job for us?

Good fit, and what we’ll point elsewhere.

Good fit

  • Discontinued functional parts on JDM and enthusiast cars
  • Parts that no longer fit after an engine swap, turbo change or relocation
  • Components where an improved version would sell to other owners
  • Restoration jobs with a functional part at the centre
  • Metal printing, for parts that need to be metal

Not what we’re for

  • Tiny one-off reproductions with no repeat market — honestly, the engineering time rarely stacks up, and we'll tell you if it doesn't
  • Copying a current product that's readily available to buy

Questions

Asked before you ask.

The original is broken in half. Can you still work from it?
Usually. We scan the pieces and the surfaces they mount to, then rebuild the geometry in CAD. If a section is missing entirely, we design it from the mating parts and function.
Will it be identical to the original?
Functionally, yes — it fits and does the job. Where the original had a known weakness we'll propose an improvement. If you need a cosmetically exact reproduction, say so at the start.
Can you reverse engineer a part for my workshop to sell?
That's the best version of this job. See the workshops page — we can develop the part, retain the design and supply it to you on repeat.

Next step

Ask about a part.

Tell us what it is, what car it's from, and what you've still got of it.
